Well, here it is. 750k + pollies takes a looooooong time to UV, but after hiding in my Motor Home (for the lack of distractions) over the weekend, she is DONE! May have to go in and tweak a few textures, but for the time I'm pretty happy with the results. Comments are welcome.
Happy Holidays.

Requested UV sheets
Hey all. Man, I suck at this blogging don't I?
Siorry for the delay Lee, but here are the UV sheets as I have them now. It's just the main hull parts I'm showing for now.
That would be the in no order, the main upper hull and wings, the front lower housing (where the front landing gear are, the mid cargo pod, and the rear gear housing. I have other parts unwrapped but for them I have several pieces sharing a single texture sheet, and well, being a little lazy.

UV's will drive you mad
Man, again with the long times between posts. Started in on the uv's, and you know what? The more poly intensive model, THE LONGER IT TAKES TO UNWRAP! But, the major pieces are done, however only a tonne of little parts to go.
On a note, the areas that have actual textures (or the start of) are the parts that have been unwrapped.

The ship is now rigged
It's been awhile since my last post, but in that time I've finished the model. Also, built a complete animation tig, which was an interesting voyage as I've discovered a crud load of stuff about setting up animation stuff in Max. Also, a show of how the rig works on the toughest part to rig, the Engine Louvers. In addition, found an interesting way to rig the complex unfolding for the landing gear.

More Updates
Got some more stuff done. Also, for Adam's sake, I've added some new mechanics for the main door. Just about finished the modeling then it's time to do the UV's and the TEXTURES!

Ship's Pilot
Every ship has to have a pilot, well this one is no different. I still fight with organic modelling, but I am somewhat pleased so far. Gotta still put in some hands and then send it to Z-brush for sculpting. Then just gotta make some clothes and other stuff. And yes, those are boots on her feet.

Finally! An Update!!!!!
Since the last posting, I've taken the main part of the upper hull and redesigned it somewhat. I wasn't happy with how it mixed in with the general feel of what else I've built. Then I looked at the original "version" and expanded from there.
In the first series of pic's you can see a direct comparison of the the old and new.
Here is just some more added in detail of the landing gear. Now all I have to do with this is duplicate it three times for the back and other side.

Some video previews
After going through a "sweat-box" session with some of my instructors, one requested to see some video of the boarding ramp to get a better idea of how the mechanics of it work, so I put this quick no-bells video together.
After that, it was time to get on with the landing gear. Originally I was going to base them off of the gear of a 747, but them the all important "sweat-box" had me rethinking the whole thing. (It so nice to work with instructors with the kind of experience they have). So I built this concept. Once again, thanks to "Paco the Taco" I have a much improved result. They only thing I'm not overly happy with is the gear door, but I might try something else; I was thinking actually of the cargo doors on a Greyhound bus of all things. It might look a little more in line with the "feel" of the gear mechanism.

And then some more is done.
After
many hours of thought and several experiments, I figured out how I was going to rig up the door mechanics. However after showing it to my instructor and his reaction of "ahhhhhh, doesn't really work" I tossed the idea away. However, while we where discussing some different ideas, it came to me. So Here it is, and now I can move on.

More Crap on the Bottom.
More of dem fiddely little things to add in. A comparison shot of doors open and closed.
Got a crap load more stuff to do on the ceiling of airlock, as well as having to put in the mechanism for the lowering of the ramp. I'm thinking of a swing arm kind of thing. If you have no idea what I mean by that, well, you'll all see once I figure it out myself :D.
Oh, and thanks for the comments on the other post.

Air Lock and Cargo Pod
Weekend assignment for myself was to build the Cetral cargo pod. Also, started to get a good chunk of the Main Air-lock modeled. Not a bunch overly left for either, just some basic cleanup and what not's that might strike my fancy.

Engine Finished
So, according to my production schedule (school requirement for some reason. It's like they're trying to force into professionals or something) I was supposed to have the engine finished by the start of Week 2 of the term. Hmmmm... check! That's right, the engine is finished. Now to start on the rest of the darn thing.

More Engine
Got some more of the engine done. Of course, I lost over 3 hours worth of work that I had to redo.
Data corruption sucks.

First Blog Post
This is the first post of my brand new BLOG!
Working away on a concept ship for my 3D Reel for school.
There will be lots of images, but not so much in the way of typing, 'cause I don't like too :D.
Anyway, first batch of images.
What we have fist is the basic blocked in shape of the ship, followed by more detailed work on the engines which will be done by the weekend of Oct 11, 2009.
